Glucosamine is a sugar found in some foods; however, it is also formed naturally by our body. Glucosamine has many key functions including cartilage formation, maintenance and repair. It also helps with swelling and to reduce joint pain for people suffering from arthritis.
There are three forms of Glucosamine that are available for nutritional supplement purposes: glucosamine sulfate, glucosamine hydrochloride and N-acetyl Glucosamine. Glucosamine supplements are derived from the exoskeletons of marine animals such as crabs, lobsters and shrimps.
Glucosamine sulfate is used to treat osteoarthritis and joint problems, while glucosamine hydrochloride is used mainly for arthritic animals, and N-acetyl glucosamine is also used for the joints. These three forms are all water soluble. The dosage for people suffering from osteoarthritis is 1,500 milligrams daily.
UniChem Enterprises Inc. is a leader in providing raw materials to the nutraceutical industry and we have all three forms of Glucosamine fully stocked in our warehouses.
